Charles was strongly influenced by Niccolò Paganini, whom he heard in 1830, as well as by Henri Vieuxtemps.
As of 1835 Dancla was violinista solo in operas of Paris, and shortly after it became master of concerts.
In 1857 he was appointed professor at the Paris Conservatory.
